How I got here (A refugee's ballad)

by Eduard Banulescu

/

about

How I got here is a ballad about refugees. It's a song about struggling to find your place in the world. It's a request for empathy. It's an attempt at understanding.

I wrote the song in Berlin. I was fascinated with the Berlin Wall, the demarcation between East and West. Few things had changed in the world, I thought.

Soon a new war started in Europe. That was confirmation that what I felt was correct.

This is a folk-rock ballad, a dream of a borderless world.

lyrics

That's how I got here when I lost my land
That's how I got, divided we stand
